Day 357: Monday, November 2

This month at school we are learning about how to use voice in our stories. We read an excellent book on voice called The Perfect Nest that has characters with a Spanish voice, a French voice, and a cowboy voice. Partners were then given a different picture of a pair of shoes and they had to write a story in the voice of that character. The kids wrote about a ballerina, a beach bum, a baby, and a teenager among others. The funniest one to me was the story written by these boys:

They had a pair of shiny, black men's shoes. They decided the owner of these shoes was Joseph Smith and they wrote an entire story about Joseph and his shoes going to church and meetings in his shoes. Another incident to chalk up to "Only in Utah."

This is an awesome idea. I have to share it with my new daughter.
