Thankfully my eyes weren't looking as bad this morning as they were yesterday. They are still red, but not as swollen or goopy. Unfortunately, they hurt worse than yesterday. If we didn't have a crazy Halloween-filled day today, I might have called in sick again. But costumes and treats were coming no matter what, so I got into my Fancy Nancy costume and set out to do my make-up. Those of you who don't know the book Fancy Nancy really should check it out. It is just so dang cute! When I was given the idea of dressing up as her, I was excited because not only did it mean crazy dress up clothes, but it was also a costume based on a book. The teacher in me loved that one.

I found the perfect make-up at the store, but my eyes were not cooperating. They kept watering every time I applied it, so I finally got a miniscule resemblence to the original make-up plan. No eyeliner, it wouldn't stay, but glitter and jewels galore! (And you can see my poor eye in the picture.)

It was unfortunate that I had to wear my glasses because I felt like it ruined the costume. I just told the kids that it was one of my
accessories, a fancy word Fancy Nancy likes to use. My rag-curled, poofball hair turned out perfect.

I hate the full body shot of me (because it looks nothing like me), but I guess I will post it after all.

I added ribbons to make my shoes look like ballet slippers and made a t-shirt so the kids would actually know who I was. (Nancy teaches her family how to be fancy.)

It was definitely a big hit, kids and parents, Fancy Nancy lovers alike. Happy Halloween!

I adore your costume (that's a fancy way of saying like)!
You could totally sell those shirts for little girls on etsy! I'm glad your eyes didn't hold you back too much!
Fabulous teacher costume! Love it! I'm sad my school doesn't do costumes (teachers or students, except for the kindergartners). We just get a 1 hour "Fall Party." However, I don't mind this year because I am stuck on bed rest anyway!
