Day 233: Wednesday, July 1
Today I finally broke down and headed to the dentist. The last time I went, the dentist gave me a prescription for a special mouthwash. Unfortunately, it turned my tongue numb and I couldn't taste anything for 3 days! Needless to say, it took some convincing to get me back there. (Or maybe it was that whole in my tooth...) The dentist I saw was extremely nice, but older than dirt. So were his receptionist and "hygienist." (Not sure if she was one because the dentist cleaned my teeth himself. I was the only patient in the place, so I guess he had time.) The best part was that they filled my cavity on the spot! There was no need to make a follow up appointment. Now I am still numb, waiting for the Novocaine to wear off in hopes of being semi pain free. I was surprised that it didn't hurt in the slightest. I haven't had a cavity filled since I was 12 or so, but I had this painful experience all built up in my head. That's what mind tricks do to you, I guess. Every dentist I have ever had always tells me what beautiful teeth I have. I guess I can have some appreciation for that head gear in middle school!
