Day 191: Wednesday, May 20 - The Feeding Frenzy

During these past two days grading tests, we have been fed pizza - first Brick Oven, then Pier 49. Now, when you eat lunch at 11:30 each day, 7 pm dinners seem very late. I get that. We were all starving. But nobody expected the chaos that was a bunch of teachers (and a few others) trying to get pizza. Teachers were growling at each other, racing for that perfect piece of the pie they wanted. One teacher near me accidentally knocked over a huge stack of napkins but just left them on the floor, too busy to take the time out and pick them up. We also ran out of plates. Here is John's creative arrangement:

The last few teachers who were too slow to get in line (they were doing unimportant things like going to the bathroom or feeding their baby) went searching for plates. Kerri noticed that she had two plates. The plates were those cheap, flimsy kind that usually require the two plate stack to hold all the food, so she didn't even notice she grabbed two. When Chrisann announced, as a joke, that Kerri had two plates, the ladies glared at her like she was the spawn of Satan for taking two plates. The horror! I will give a little benefit of the doubt because it is the end of the year and nobody wants to work in the schools during these last few weeks, but come on ladies!

Both nights we were laughing at the way kids explained their thinking behind their answers. Here was my favorite explanation for solving the math problem we were grading:

I counted on my finggers. 6 on one and the 3 on the other. (well, one on my other hand 'cause I don't have six finggers.)

The math answer is way cute. Isn't it nice that they show their cute side so you can remember why you like them!!
