Day 143: Friday, April 3 - Magazine Boxes

In professional development, we are currently reading The Art of Teaching Reading by Lucy Calkins. It has some fabulous ideas, and we want to gradually implement some of the ideas into our curriculum. For this specific idea, we are trying to purchase 25 magazine boxes for each second grade classroom. The cheapest we can find are cardboard holders, and we would like plastic for durability. If you have any idea where we can purchase these for a good price, please let me know!

Hmm... good luck with that! I used the cardboard ones and just reinforced them with packaging tape, and they held up for the year anyway (they had the kids' reading journals, handwriting, etc. in them, so they were used pretty frequently). They might have even lasted longer, who knows. I got them at IKEA for pretty cheap (maybe 12-25 cents each?), and I think they have plastic ones too... I just don't know how much those cost! If you haven't looked there, maybe that's a place you could check out? It's just kind of fun place to go to anyway, even if you find nothing! :)

I don't know where to find any, but it sounds like you guys must be doing something fun with them. What are they for?
