Day 95: Saturday, February 14 - Valentime's Day

Valentime's Day is supposed to be the most romantical day of the year. And what do I want? A vacuum. Not flowers, not a teddy bear, not chocolates (I got enough of those yesterday), a vacuum. Even the checker at the store told me how un-romantic my gift was. But that's what I wanted, so that's what I got.

I am not the most decisive person. (Thanks Dad... and Mom.) It took me forever to decide which vacuum I wanted! I wanted something fairly cheap, since I am so not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a vacuum, but something that can handle pet hair, since I believe that is the reason my last vacuum only lasted a year and a half. I researched online, read customer reviews, talked to a couple of people in person, and agonized over the decision. Mike finally commented, "You aren't buying a car. It's just a vacuum." (I think I was driving him crazy with all the questions and the, "What do you think?'s.) The funny thing is, when I got my 4Runner last year, I knew exactly what car I wanted, hands down. I knew the make, model, color, etc without any wavering. It was much harder to buy a stinking vacuum! Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up with the newest addition of the vacuum we already had. I really liked it until it stopped working, and I noticed in the reviews online that it lasts much longer if you take super good care of the filters, which I hadn't done apparently. So here is my unromantical Valentine's Day present in all it's clean carpet glory!

That's not the only thing we did today. I made a nice dinner of shrimp scampi on angel hair pasta, salad, and garlic bread, and we went and saw Coraline in 3-D.
3-D movies are about the coolest thing I have ever seen right now! If you haven't seen a movie in 3-D, you definitely need to check one out. It truly makes the movie feel real because the graphics pop out at you. It's not all about things coming out of the screen to get you, but about the scene's looking like they are 3-dimensional, like you are watching a play. The movie itself had a well written plot and amazing characters. However, it is not a movie suitable for young kids. The 8-year-old and 5-year-old's on either side of us should not have been there. I hope they don't have nightmares tonight, because it was a little scary for that age group. Parents, be forewarned, think twice about the age of your children before taking them to this children's movie. But it's still awesome!

I love practical gifts!!! For Christmas I always ask for a new power tool or something for the yard. Got a new lawn mower one year. LOVE IT!!! One year a leaf blower. Hey things like this last forever, those roses die and chocolates get eaten, but vacuums and lawn mowers last a long time!!!!

I totally know what you mean! I wanted a vacuum for Valentine's Day too! (But apparently ours still "works" according to Jeff. I have my doubts.)
