My students have to pass off their addition and subtraction facts each year. This year we decided to have them earn parts of a breakfast feast for each fact (i.e. 0's is a napkin and 1's is a bowl etc.). Today was that celebration. The kids got to eat whatever they earned, which was everything for most of them. One kid walked through the line and said, "Cereal? I don't like cereal. Where's the sausage?" Yeah, like we were going there. It cost enough as it was. After all the kids got through the line

and finished their food

one student said to me, "Addition rules!" That's right A. Addition rules. Now maybe you will remember those facts for at least the rest of the year.

What a fun idea. I know the kids don't realize how great they have it, but some day they will look back and remember they had a great 2nd grade teacher!!! Mom
