Days 184 - Jaunary 1, 2012

Ring in 2012!  Let's see how our year went, shall we?

January:  January was spent with bridal fairs and mega blenders.  I resolved to record all the books and pages read.  Mega fail.  I lasted until about mid February.  The first inklings of needing a change at my job started this  month.

February: We watched the Superbowl at our house, Mike wrote me the most sentimental Valentine's Day note with my flowers, we took Kiersten and David's bridal pictures, and my mom came into town and we went to another bridal fair and found Kiersten's wedding dress!

March: Mike worked tons of hours this month, including at the site of the Good Luck Charlie movie.  He also started his new job.  I got to watch Kiersten compete in BYU's Dancesport competition and had to spend a day in common core training. We had a visit from Amy, Mya and Peyton.

April: In April we had some crazy weather!  Snow one day, spring the next.  We celebrated Bridger's birthday at Gloria's Little Italy and I went to Olivia's Tangled birthday party.  I officially decided to teach 3rd grade for the next school year!

May:  Kiersten's wedding.  Hello!  What more do I need to say?  Oh, school's out for the summer.

June: Mike became supervisor at his new job.  I was off for the summer.  I went to Wild West Days with friends, spent a week in a science workshop, and died my hair a more natural color.  We purchased a grill and spent tons of time using it!

July: We hosted a 4th of July celebration at our house, I turned 29, Kiersten and I went to a family reunion in Idaho, we experienced Fiesta Days and the carnival in American Fork, and I went to an early premiere of the final Harry Potter movie with my new 3rd grade team.

August: I spent a LOT of time getting my new classroom ready for the new school year, my family came into to town, we went to Lagoon and Yuba Lake, and my cousins Cecily and Devin visited from Texas.  I started my 8th year of teaching but my first year of 3rd grade.

September:  Mike experience horrendous kidney stones and had them surgically removed, barbecuing, the school carnival, canning peaches, and sewing scarves with Kiersten.

October: Mike's mom Laura visited during fall break and went to the Halloween party with us.  Mike dressed as a cowboy, I was some sort of evil fairy queen, and Laura was Elphaba.  I did my first photo shoot, we went and saw Thriller with friends from my work, and Mike skipped out on our Moab trip.

November:  November saw some more Burkhardt family togetherness with my cousin Ryan's wedding and a family dinner that same weekend.  We loved going to Colorado for Thanksgiving with Mike's family.  I got a gym membership and loved using it.  My student teacher had her fall field experience in my classroom. Shopping for new Christmas decorations!

December:  Gotta love the Christmas craziness!  Mike turned 30 and we celebrated our 8th anniversary. There were school Christmas parties full of white elephant gifts and eating donuts off a string and a fun assembly by the Clark Planetarium.  More pinterest crafts and freezer meals for Grandma.  My family came to visit for Christmas and we had a blast!  Mike's car died and we welcomed a new Honda Civic into our family.
