Day 29 - July 29, 2011

I think everyone should shampoo their carpets yearly. Then why don't I follow my own advice? Good question. Because, like you, I have so many better things to do. But, using Grandma's handy dandy Hoover
I managed to do it today! (Confession: this may or may not be the first time I have shampooed my carpets. Ever. In the six years we have owned our house. Do as I say not as I do.)

It may not look like it here,

but Mike was a big help.

He did all the vacuuming. He was awesome at it. In fact, he probably vacuums better than I do. (Note for future reference: get Mike to do all the weekly vacuuming.) Then he napped while I shampooed. While he napped and I slowly pushed and pulled the shampooer, I got to thinking about all the things I want out of life.

  • I want to become a better cook.
  • I want to become more proficient at Photo Shop.
  • I want to get caught up on my scrapbooking.
  • I want to be a great photographer and take professional-esque pictures.
  • I want to become a better teacher.
  • I want to read all the books on my list.
  • I want to be a more dutiful wife.
  • I want to run a 5k without stopping to walk.
  • I want my blog writing to sound more exciting.
  • I want to have a spotless house on a constant basis.
  • I want to spend more meaningful time with friends and family.
I want, I want, I want! But in order to get all my wants, I need:
  • More hours in each day.
  • More days in the week.
  • More weeks in the year.
  • Maybe a three day weekend every weekend?
I just need more time. So since I don't have that, now what? How do I get it all in. I don't have the answers, and neither do you I am sure. But what do you do to get more time out of your day? (My carpets look fantastic by the way.)

I sure hope you get lots and lots of advice on how to get more hours in the day!! What did you end up using to shampoo the carpets?

My biggest slow down is indecision on the little things. I need a reason for everything so it slows me down, but I make fewer mistakes - well I use to make fewer mistakes. So now I just do what Lenna tells me and I'm good (OK not quite all the time or well not even most of the time so no wonder I'm not as fast as I used to be). By the way don't tell her I wrote that! Good thing it's an anonymous comment.
