We Spent Halloween in a Crater

My sister was in town so we all went swimming at The Crater at the Homestead Resort in Midway, up near Park City for our Halloween celebrations. (Well, I guess it's really Halloween Eve, but here in good ole Utah, Saturday is considered Halloween when the real holiday is on a Sunday.) We wanted to go hike up to the natural hot springs, but it was pouring and the hike didn't sound like much of a thrill. In fact, for me, it sounded pretty miserable. The idea of swimming at a hot springs that was mostly covered sounded much more appealing. You have to make reservations since it isn't that big and spent the time with the scuba divers. It is one of the closest places to Provo you can dive. Kiersten was pretty interested in that, since she is certified, but none of the rest of us are so we opted for just swimming. Since it is over 50 feet deep, you have to wear these life jacket things that have a belt that goes down your back, up between your legs, and clips onto the front of your vest. Can we say constant wedgie? But it was definitely therapeutic. We just floated around for over an hour, dunking each other and trying to see the bottom. We were so relaxed after our swim that we thought it was 11:00 pm rather than 6:30. I guess that dark didn't help that, either. We did, however, get one treat from the pirate at the gas station. We cajoled mini candy bars out of him while buying our post swimming snacks. (Can I say amazing hot chocolate? Way better than Starbucks.) All in all, it was a fun experience. It was a little pricey, so I wouldn't consider doing it often, but it was worth the one time experience.

*For our Halloween movie we watched Abandoned, which was the movie Brittany Murphy was filming while she died. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. You can tell they had to throw some scenes together at the last minute. It was incredibly slow in the beginning and Brittany Murphy looked awful. In fact, she looked like a drug addict.
