They're Here!

After an insane week of no sleep, leaving school at lunch on Wednesday and Thursday to false alarms and taking the day off on Friday, our puppies finally arrived this morning! Here is the run down (don't mind the blood):

9:52 - Zoe decides to nest in our blanket. Then her water breaks.
10:05 - The first puppy arrives. It's a girl!

Zane waits patiently in the hall. Mostly.

Zoe moves to the whelping box.

11:00 - The second baby girl arrives breach. That was a tough one.

11:40 - The third baby girl arrives.
11:45 - The first boy arrives immediately after the girl.

1:12 - The last little girl arrives. She took so long because she came without a sac and placenta. Zoe had to deliver a dry dog. Ouch!

She has retained a sac and placenta in her uterus so we will have to get the vet to give her a shot so they will come out. And now it's time for all of us to take a nap. It's been a long week!

**Side note: Later that evening I found an open vet and got her a shot of oxytocin, brought it home, and gave it to Zoe. That placenta came out in 20 minutes! Now everyone is officially healthy.
