Day 175: Monday, May 4 - Ow! My Eye!
Yesterday my eye went kind of blurry. Not the kind of blurry that is caused by a spot on your contact blurry but the kind of blurry that happens even with glasses on. I didn't think too much of it, but just attributed it to allergies or something. Today, however, it continued. All throughout the day my eye was blurry and by the end of the day it was burning. I went straight home and called my eye doctor. He couldn't get me in until the next day, so I got a hold of a different doctor in town who would get me in immediately. He was super nice, but had terrible bedside manner. The doctor dilated my eyes and had a look. My left eye was fairy swollen and he ran all sorts of tests. He practically had me convinced that I had MS or a chronic eye allergy that would prevent me from ever even having the possibility of Lasic Eye Surgery. He said I did have an infection and gave me a prescription for some eye drops. He told me I might have to discontinue use of contacts for up to 6 or 8 weeks and would not tell me the problem would go away. Needless to say, I was pretty worried when I left. I had fears of losing my vision completely or needing surgery on my eye! The visit was horrible compared to the eye doctor visit Laura had when she was in town. The rest of the day was spent getting eye drops, trying to grocery shop, and getting dinner from the Art City Trolley, all with dialated eyes. Having your eyes dialated is a horrible feeling. Being able to see but not at the same time is the worst. My mom had to drive us around because I couldn't even open my eyes outside. My mom and I did not plan on spending her last evening on eye related problems!
