Ellis Island was so informative and one of my favorite destinations on our trip. We learned all about how only the third class passengers had to enter America through Ellis Island. They then had to show they had $25 dollars or a railway ticket (to prove they could support themselves) and go through a health screening. Most people passed both and went on to the U.S. to meet their family. Only a small percentage were sent to the hospital to be double checked or get over their illness, and most of them continued on their journey. An even smaller percent were sent back to their original homeland. The audio tour of the stories of the people were just marvelous. Mike and I took our picture at The Kissing Post. This was the place where all the immigrants met their loved ones after their long journey.
And of course the Statue. Here are Leslie and I in front of it. Unfortunately, we couldn't go inside at all. Robbie was pretty disappointed.
