Then at about 11 I got a text from Kiersten telling me that I should come help paint and take off wallpaper at their place (they are staying at Grandma's rental for the summer). It was strange because Kiersten isn't one for big projects before a fun activity.
So I went (with swimming suit in tow) to help out, thinking that the faster we got the project done the faster we could go swimming.
I did not expect grandma to be there. (I should have, it only makes sense.) I also did not expect to be steaming off wallpaper until after 5.
It was one of the most tedious, hardest jobs I have ever done. The steamer didn't work very well. Maybe because the wallpaper is so old or maybe because wallpaper just sucks. Period.
After finally getting to the pool that evening we got kicked out after a half hour due to the pouring rain, thunder and lightning.
So we went to Chinese. Where I was still full from the pizza lunch we had and only had a cup of egg drop soup.
Where my friend Janette texted me and invited me to go get dessert with her after I got home.
So after I showered off the chlorine and got dressed, we shared a slice of fantastic 5 layer chocolate cake at the Art City Trolley.
Where we got kicked out of the restaurant at closing time and stayed in my car talking until after 11:30.
A long day? Yes. A fun one? Mostly. Partly. Definitely. (After the chores were done.)

Things don't always turn out the way we plan. Thanks for helping out on a big unexpected project. It's exceptionally kind to give of your time and it was great service to your sister and grandma. Thanks
Dad
