Out of the Mouth of ... Parents?

Here is, word for word, the beginning of a note a parent sent about the book report that was due last Friday:

Teacher (seriously?),
(Insert child's name here) needs two Dr. Seuss books in order to do her book report. We cannot do it without them.

My internal reply:

Parent,
Everyone else managed to do their book report and hand it in on time without any help. It is only a second grade book report. You are an adult - figure it out. Oh, and while you are at it, figure out my name. It is the end of March after all and we have been in school for 7 months.

Don't you just sometimes wish you could really send home responses like this one? But being the good teacher that I am sent the child to the library to get 2 Dr. Seuss books.

O. M. G. seriously, reason 178 why I quit teaching-my internal monologue stopped being internal. Sheesh.

Sometimes I wish parents could read my thoughts. But then again, there are sometimes I am so glad they can't! Thanks for writing what we are all thinking!
