Christmas 2009

I am sitting here is my clean living room, the only remnant of Christmas being the slight indentation in the carpet where the tree stood and the new laptop on which I am currently typing this blog post. Our Christmas was one of the most unconventional holidays I have ever had. Because, as you know, the reason we stayed home for the season, was our little bundles of furry joy living in a box in the laundry room. Mike got called into work at the last minute on Christmas Eve morning, so he was a little tired when he got home. I had made a traditional turkey dinner for the two of us and Mike sucked it up and watched a Christmas movie with me. We ate dinner while watching Miracle on 34th Street and went to bed early, not because we were so excited for Christmas morning, but because we (especially Mike) were pretty tired. Come on, I had been shopping and cooking for days!

Mike woke up as normal around 7 am on Christmas morning, but he was nice enough to just hang out while I got my beauty sleep and slept to 9. And of course I had to get ready and put on my make-up before we were allowed to do anything (a family tradition of mine). We just changed that tradition by staying in our new pajamas as opposed to regular clothes. We followed another tradition by opening our presents one by one and taking pictures all along the way. I gotta have something to scrapbook!

The haul: I got a laptop, a new and better straightener, clothes, some bath stuff like a bath pillow and a bath tray, pajamas, slippers, We got giftcards, a book made by my mom full of childhood pictures, The Office season 4, a picture that says our last name, money, and some other pictures, like one of Mike's mom. Mike got the Motorola Droid cell phone, a vegetable chopper, a car mount for his phone, a new bathroom set (including towels and shower curtain), new headphones, some clothes, and the best part of all - good grades this semester! So to our families, we missed you, but we still enjoyed our holday. :-) Here are some of the highlights:

We both got Snuggies, took pictures in them, then used the lint roller to get off all the fuzz! We took them back the next day.
Thanks Kendall!
Thanks Laura! haha

Now I can throw the old, slow, fanless laptop out the window!

Gift cards. Yes.

Good grades - the best present yet!

Thanks for the cute sweater Kiersten!

Zoe's Christmas present was spending time in the living room as if life were back to normal.

And let's not forget our anniversary! We did remember this year, not like last year. We traded presents the next day and went to Tucano's with some friends for our special dinner. Happy 6th year anniversary Mike! It has been an exciting and eventful six years. Here's to another happy year!

I have to admit, I completely forgot the anniversary this year. Bad me! What a great job in showing how Christmas went. Looks like you had fun even though it was not with us!! Glad to see you are keeping some of the old traditions!
