New Moon Premiere

No, I didn't get tickets to an advance screening. Nordstrom's rented out the entire Orem movie theater and you had to be an employee or know someone that is an employee to get tickets. Mike was hired on to work as extra security for the large event. Of course, the lines stretched everywhere. There were Team Edward and Team Jacob shirts, and girls galore.

Every single theater was showing New Moon, so each person was assigned a theater. The weren't however, assigned seats. They were allowed to save only one seat. The females tried to save entire rows for their friends that were "in the bathroom" leaving no space for anyone else. That was where security came in. They had to reinforce this rule as well as the no cell phone rule. Stephenie Meyer apparently paid good money to keep New Moon from being pirated early on the internet, so cell phone usage was strictly forbidden. They didn't want a camera phone leaking the movie from their theater. So security walked around with infrared goggles watching for sneaky people. Many people brought blankets and tried to hide their cell phones under them while they were texting, but those goggles catch everything. One girl almost had the cops called on her because she continued to text after repeated warnings! When a girl in a wheelchair was allowed into the theater about 20 minutes early to get seated, the super nice girls waiting in line yelled, "Why does that b**ch get to go in early!" Strong emotions and desires to be first bring out the best in people don't they?

So there you have it, the guy that never wanted to see Twilight in the first place, let alone New Moon, was the first to see the movie not once, but twice! Mike was very thankful that he didn't have to watch the entire movie for both showings, but he saw bits and pieces here and there. He said the movie looks much better than Twilight (the parts he saw anyway) but of course the acting can't really get much better. I guess I won't be quite as hesitant to join the ranks of the New Moon fans.
