Day 262: Thursday, July 30

I spent the day working at school registration, manning the "student forms" station. I got to collect the Smith's fresh value card school donation forms and the internet release forms. So exciting! But it was a bitter sweet moment. I loved seeing my old students and meeting the new ones who are excited to be in my class. The bitter part came when students whose siblings I have taught in the past did not get into my class. I love teaching the siblings and working with the parents for multiple years. I am just glad I know they will be happy with their teacher anyway because I work with such a great group of teachers!

The funniest part of the day (well, funniest looking back on it) occurred when I met one of my new students, Rachel. Rachel was very excited to meet me. However, her parents were even more excited! For the rest of the time they were at the school, each time I happened to glance in their general direction, the mom would grin and give my a huge wave. The first smiles were real. But can I just tell you, after the fifth smile and wave, the rest were a struggle. Fake it til you make it, right?
