Day 196: Monday, May 25 - Eclipse

This eclipse was the first car Mike owned. He bought it after his mission and drove it up until about a year ago when we discovered it had issues with the transmission and we bought our 4Runner. I thought that car was so hot when we were dating! The HOA has been giving us a hard time about it lately. The rule is 2 cars per house. One of my busybody stay-at-home-mom neighbors with nothing better to do than spy and tattle on the people who live around her complains to the board constantly. She decided to whine about our car - not that is was hurting her in the slightest. To make a long story short, our car got stickered to be towed if we didn't move it but not a single other car got stickered - all because of this neighbor. None of the other board members were willing to ticket any other cards so I got an extension to get rid of the car, but didn't get it revoked. (It doesn't help that I am friends with the HOA president - they think she is just trying to help her friend out.) I was all lined up to speak to the HOA board at the meeting on Tuesday to convince them that, ethically, they needed to make everyone get rid of their third cars or, if they are not willing to do that, they can't make us get rid of ours. In addition to that, I decided to post it on ksl.com last Friday to try and sell it, which was our original intent. I expected to need quite some time to actually sell it in this economy. However, we sold it today! It was only posted for three days and it is gone! It's awesome that we sold it, but it makes us kind of nostalgic at the same time. I also decided to still talk to the board at the meeting because what they did was just not ethical and I feel their decisions should be made based on the rules and not on one member of the community and her bored ramblings. In the mean time, we don't have that car constantly in the back of our minds, just waiting for us to do something about it.
