Day 157: Thursday, April 16 - Day 8 New York City

This was the day I was most looking forward too the entire trip - it was purse buying day. We headed straight into Chinatown to meet up with Joni's purse friends. Only Leslie, McKenzie and I went because they are nervous about too many people. You must first call them and let them know you are on the way. A man meets you outside the building with his walkie talkie and radios in to make sure it is safe to enter. You enter the t-shirt store where they proceed to open a secret wall at the back of the store! You climb a very narrow, steep set of stairs to a small room just filled with purses - Chanel, Versace, Kate Spade, and other great names in the designer purse industry. It was pure heaven! When you have selected your wares, they bag them up, radio down to make sure it is safe for you to leave, and warn you not to check your bags until you are far away. I felt like a secret agent on a mission. It was absolutely great (big sigh).

For the rest of the day we saw the flower show and the famous wooden escalaters at Macy's (where Mike also got some cool new boots), the Empire State Building,

a second trip down Time's Square,
rode the elevator in the Marriott, another trip to Toys R Us and the M&M Store, and saw Guys and Dolls on Broadway. What a funfilled day!
