Day 56: Tuesday, January 6 - Back to School. Again.

Yes, it is back to school again, only this time it is for me. Not only did I have to drive to Santaquin for class, but we spent the majority of the class reading out of a textbook. That doesn't sound too bad, right? I mean, that's what you go to school for - to learn. This is our book. The school district is forcing us to read this book for our class.

It dry and full of big words none of us know, (and yes, I know what pedagogy means) and it is purely a repetition of all the things we have learned in all the classes we have taken to get this degree we are pursuing. But that's not the real problem. We are used to reading textbooks like that. The real problem is that there are 17 people in my class, and 7 copies of the book. Yes, it is supposedly out of print which is why they claim they won't buy us any more copies. The strange thing about it is that amazon.com has it listed as in stock for $44.95. Hmmm... Now why is everyone fighting over who gets to take a book with them and who is stuck photocopying the 96 pages we have to read this week when you can buy it online for 45 freaking dollars?!?!

I don't understand why they don't just choose a text that's accessible. It's not like what that book has to offer is so fabulous. I couldn't tell you a single thing about it!! Good luck--the end is in sight!

Wow, what a bunch of crap! Sometimes I can't understand why the school system is so dumb. Sorry that you have to read that. Even the cover is boring. Hopefully your class is fun when you aren't reading the book!
