Today we had our much anticipated Polar Express Party. It lasted pretty much all day.
Allll day. Our party was in the morning before lunch and we watched the movie in the afternoon. The kids have been working all month to earn punches on a "Believe" ticket, just like in the movie. If they had enough punches, they could attend the party.
I turned on the train music from the movie and had them line up outside our classroom. I was the conductor and said "Tickets please" as they filed back in. There was more excitement in the air than there has been all year! Included in the festivities was:

Making Twinkie trains, drinking hot chocolate, and eating cookies.

A santa's bag present packaging relay. (Try saying that one three times fast!)

And watching The Polar Express movie of course! (As any good teacher would have done, we read the book first. In fact, we had already read the book several times.)

Even Fred joined in the Christmas festivities.
At the end of the day, I had a couple girls whisper, "I love you! You are the best teacher ever." and "I want to tell you the same thing M. said." This is the best part of these party days: the room mom and other parent helpers do all the work and I get all the credit! Gotta love it.
