Day 36 - 8 Days 'Til Christmas - Singing Around the Tree & The Returns Girl

We only had a few minor glitches during Singing Around the Tree today. Only the stereo system stopped working in between our two songs. We just had to hold a microphone up to the lovely boom box. That's all. No big deal. It's every day we have to try and manage 80 seven- and eight-year-olds up on stage in front of a couple hundred people. Actually, they were pretty good.

Here you can see them in the left corner trying to get the stereo system to work. Look carefully and you can see the back of my curly head.

This is the best image I have our our hippo. His dancing during I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas had the audience rolling.

Here is the experience I had trying to return shoes at a locally owned shoe store.

Me: "I would like to return these boots."

Girl: (Slight Hispanic accent, late teens. Inspects the bottoms of the boots.) "Have you worn these?"

Me: "Nope."

Girl: (Picking a couple pieces of dog hair off the suede bottoms of the boots.) "Cat?" "Are you sure you haven't worn these?"

Me: (Admittedly slightly sarcastic.) "Well, I tried them on in my house. I do have a dog."

Girl: "And you didn't walk around in them?"

Me: (A little more sarcastic.) "A little in my living room." pause "Dogs sometimes shed on the carpet."

Girl: "You tried them on near your dog?!"

Me: (Thinking - Yeah and they peed all over them. That's why I am returning them. They smell like dog piss.) Outloud - "They do live in my house." (nicely) "Why, do you have a problem with me trying on the shoes I bought in my house?"

Girl: "No, just wondering."

Five minutes later.

Her: (after I said the name of my street, including the word street.) "Strive? What's that?"

Me: "That would be street."

Her: "Oh sorry, I am out of it today."

Yeesh. What a great sales associate she was.
