Day 23 - 21 Days 'Til Christmas - The Little Tree That Could

The little tree that could...drive a teacher crazy!!!! M. in my class wanted to very badly to bring in this one foot tall tree and let it live in our classroom. The kids loved it! However, second graders cannot keep their hands to themselves. All day long I heard the bells falling on the floor, watched the tree tip over, and M. chastise kids for touching. We had a nice chat where, in my nice teacher voice, I told them that if it was touched again I would throw it in the garbage can. Of course, I heard things like, "But it's M.'s tree. You can't do that." "That would be a waste of money." "Not during Christmas!" I promptly changed it to tell them I was at my wits end with the whole touchy-touchy business and it would go back to M.'s house if they couldn't keep their hands to themselves. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Tonight I went to the enrichment cooking class. We were learning how to make a pumpkin roll and were supposed to bring a treat and the recipe that goes with it. I decided to go at the last minute because I loved the idea of eating many tasty treats. Since it was the last minute, I didn't have a treat, but did have a recipe. We watched the leader make a pumpkin roll, show us how easy it was, and promptly wrap it in saran wrap and place it in the freezer. While she was making the second one, she said it needs to be cold in order for it to taste right. Not a big deal. She promptly stuck the second one in the freezer, too. Now when she was making the third pumpkin roll and showing us the 9 others she has in her freezer, I thought she would pull one of those out and let us try it. I even gave a hint about how I missed it at Super Saturday. She then stuck the third pumpkin roll in the freezer and said since it was so easy we should all make one and bring one to her. She now has 11 in her freezer and didn't even let us taste one! As if I am going to bake one for her! Who does that?
